Kayalpatnam: Venkatesan’s four goals, including a hat-trick, helped defending champion Chennai whip Namakkal 8-0 and enter the semifinals of the 17th Tamil Nadu State youth football tournament championship for the A.G. Subburaman Memorial Cup at the Kayal Sporting Club ground here on Thursday. Dindigul also made the last-four grade defeating Tirunelveli 4-0, after leading 1-0 at half time. Earlier, Vellore and Tuticorin entered the quarterfinals. Vellore had an easy 6-1 victory over Virudhunagar, riding on Kuppusamy’s four goals, including a hat-trick. Tuticorin defeated Nilgiris 5-3 via tie-breaker, after the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time.
