Gagan misses prone final

NEW DELHI: Gagan Narang missed out on the 50 metre free rifle prone event final on the count-back after having tied with five others at 594 for the eighth spot in the shooting World Cup in Milan on Thursday.

The Hyderabad shooter had a series of 100, 99, 99, 98, 100 and 98. The last card pulled him out of the top-eight and he finished 12th in a field of 62.

Sanjeev Rajput was one point behind and finished 17th following rounds of 100, 96, 99, 99, 100, 99. The below par second card put paid to his hopes of a final.

Samaresh Jung grappled with his form in the 50 metre free pistol event and ended up 37th with a 550. He had rounds of 92, 94, 91, 89, 93 and 91.

He was far from the form that saw him miss the 10 metre air pistol final on the count-back after an impressive 581.
