Rupee ends lower


MUMBAI: The rupee on Thursday reacted downwards by five paise to close at 42.78/79 against the dollar following subdued equity markets and sustained capital outflows.

Firm dollar overseas also impacted negatively on the rupee.

In a two-way trading at the inter-bank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened marginally higher from its Wednesday’s close of 42.74. However it eased to Rs. 42.7450/7550 and ended the day at 42.79/79. — PTI
