BANGALORE: South Zone, with a brace of goals from Kulusumbi, downed North East Zone 4-2 in the SAI inter-region girls’ hockey tournament that commenced at the SAI South Centre, here on Thursday. Saira Banu put the South girls ahead with crisp shot in the 16th minute and Kulusumbi added to the score in the 34th minute. Soon after the change of ends, Lalsawmpari sounded the boards off a penalty corner for North East only to trigger a quick double strike from the Southern girls with Kulusumbi (41st) and M.R. Lekha (44th) adding to the tally. However in the 56th minute, L. Mandakini struck on the run to reduce the final margin for the North Eastern girls. The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Ric Charlesworth and Dr. M.P. Ganesh.
