CISF to guard MCD’s sanitary landfill sites
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: In a marked deviation from their usual job profile of guarding airports, atomic energy centres and space organisations, the Central Industrial Security Force may just be offered a rather banal assignment now. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi wants to deploy the force to police its sanitary landfill sites in the Capital to ensure that the dumping of silt and offal proceeds without a hitch.
At a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee, Chairman Vijender Gupta said that in view of anomalies detected recently at the sanitary landfill sites in Ghazipur, Okhla and Bhalaswa, the civic body had decided to approach an agency such as the CISF for stepping up security at these sites. “Deployment of a security agency at the site would help keep a tab on the number of trucks actually dumping their contents there and also prevent issuance of fake receipts,” he added.
