Let Manmohan lead nation in fast: Modi

GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take “bold and courageous” steps to fight inflation and advised him to lead the nation to go on a fast at least once a week to control the prices of foodgrains.

At a public meeting in Navsari in south Gujarat on Thursday, Mr. Modi recalled the call given by the former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, to skip one meal a week when the country was facing an acute food shortage.
