MLC M.V.S. Sarma has described the State Government’s decision withdrawing its move to shift the proposed Central University from Visakhapatnam to Kadapa as a ‘victory of the people of north Andhra’. He welcomed the orders issued by the State Government on Wednesday for the acquisition of 700 acres of land in Visakhapatnam for setting up of the proposed Central University. Mr. Sarma said that the State Government had reversed its decision bowing to pressure from the public, students, employees’ unions and political parties. He commended the role played by People for India, students union, intellectuals and others that forced the Government to reverse its decision.
