Boy commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by taking poison at Sangam Vihar here on Thursday, hours after he failed to clear his Class X board examination.

Jai Kishan, a resident of Deoli village, slipped into depression soon after the Class X results were declared in the morning. “We told him that it was not the end of the road, but he did not listen,” said a close relative of the family.

When the family found Jai Kishan frothing a few hours later, they took him to a nearby hospital. He was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared brought dead. His father Tej Singh owns an electronic goods shop in the area.

Meanwhile, the teenaged girl who leapt off the DDA District Centre at Janakpuri here on Wednesday has been identified as 16-year-old Bharati of Subhash Nagar.

The girl apparently was anxious about her Class X exam result and allegedly jumped off the eighth floor of the district centre.
