Plea to set up district councils for the elderly

Thiruvananthapuram: The district committee of the Senior Citizens’ Friends Welfare Association has urged the State government to constitute the district councils proposed in the State policy for the elderly.

The committee which met here on Friday elected Captain K.A. Pillai as president and A.K.D. Pillai as secretary. Other office-bearers were also elected. State president of the association J. Chandra inaugurated the meeting. General secretary Amaravila Ramakrishnan Nair presided over the function. The meeting decided to organise a series of lectures on the health problems faced by the elderly.
