Blood donation awards announced

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Bank of India (SBI) and the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) have bagged the award instituted by Terumo Penpol Limited and the State NSS (National Service Scheme) cell for the institutions supporting voluntary blood donation.

The award for the best donor-motivator went to Byju S. Mony (NGO, Nellimood), S. Krishnakumar (TCS) and Anitha Kumari S. of Kerala Mahila Samkhiya Society.

Mary Mettilda of All Saints’ College won the Best Club 25 coordinator award.

The Best Club 25 Donor award was bagged by Rejeetha (Club 25 Member, All-India Institute for Self-Employment), Simna S. (Club 25 Member, All Saints’ College) and Shirley J. (Club 25 Member, All Saints’ College).

Those who had donated blood four times a year were selected as the best blood donors. The awards will be given away at a function to be held at the Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan here on June 14, World Blood Donor day.

The best NSS program officer promoting voluntary blood donation from each of the seven universities in the State will be honoured at the function.

Those who had donated more than 50 times, between 25-50 times, and more than 10 times will also be honoured.

A press note issued by Terumo Penpol Limited said the awards were meant to thank the special people who provided the foundation of a safe blood supply network. The awards comprise a crystal memento and a certificate.
