Cheriyan Philip backs Shoukat

Thiruvananthapuram:

Cheriyan Philip, a prominent Left leader and former Congressman, has asked the Congress leadership whether it would take action against Shoukat Aryadan’s film ‘Daivanamathil’ which had questioned orthodoxy in the Muslim community. In a statement here on Friday, Mr. Philip, who is also Chairman of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, said a section in the Congress was trying to oust Mr. Shoukat who had taken ideological positions against orthodoxy in the Muslim community. The Congress leadership had bowed before the IUML by making him a scapegoat. – Special Correspondent
