KHAMMAM: An engineering student who took part in the NREGS work died in a freak accident at Jallepali village in Tirumalayapalem village on Friday. Kusumanchi Circle Inspector Saibabu said that Bhukya Ramesh, 23, second year B.Tech student from the Swarna Bharati Engineering College, Khammam, had enrolled himself as one of the job-seekers under the NREGS in the village during the vacation. He was entrusted with the task of fetching drinking water from the nearby well to quench the thirst of fellow workers. The boy who served them water in the morning session failed to turn up in the afternoon. The workers who went in search of him found his body floating in the well. The body was fished out and sent for post-mortem. A pall of gloom descended on the village; the promising student belonged to a tribal family. His father, a farm worker, faced a lot of difficulties to get him educated. Sub divisional police officer Rameshaiah and Tiurumalayapalem MRO Bhaskar were among those who visited the family and assured that the case would be recommended for assistance from the administration. ElectrocutedA youth from Pocvhavaram village in Kusumanchi mandal got electrocuted at home on Friday. The police said Duppula Naresh, 20, came in contact with a live wire after having bath and died on the spot. Police investigation is on.
