dated May 31, 1958: Man may go to Mars

Soviet scientists will shortly send men to planet Mars as well as to the Moon, according to Lenoid Sedov, President of the Soviet Space Research Committee, quoted on May 29 by the Hungarian Radio. Sedov said that within a few years, Soviet scientists would be in a position to send men to the planets near to the earth, though at present it was impossible to send a man to the Moon because science had not yet found a way of overcoming the heat which surrounded it.
