SCR has it easy

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway (SCR) defeated AOC Centre 4-0 in the A-1 division super-league hockey championship here on Friday.

SCR shot into lead in the ninth minute when right-in Mayank James was on target. In the second session, left-in Prabhakar Singh, right-back Mayur and Mayank James scored once each to complete the tally.

Big win for CCF

Centuries by Benjamin Thomas (132 not out, 17x4, 5x6) and S. Nikhilesh (103, 42b, 14x4, 3x6) helped CCF (Hyderabad) record a 210-run win over Alfred CA (Chennai) in the open category of the Imtiaz Pepsi Cup all-India invitation cricket tournament in Bangalore, according to information received here.

Open category: CCF (Hyd) 301 for three in 25 overs (Benjamin Thomas 132 not out, S. Nikhilesh 103, Salum 37) bt Alfred CA, Chennai 91 (V.L. Sashank three for 10, Aamer three for four, Abhishek three for 17).

Imtiaz Ahmed CA 185 in 29.1 overs (Zeeshan 62, Amir 46, Sohail three for 43, Niren three for 30) bt Sarojini CFA 179 (Revanth Sai 84, Sridhar 32, Zeeshan three for 36, Manjunath three for 38). Under-13: Sri Lanka XI 150 (Edward 61, Prakash three for 30) bt Sarojini CFA 90 (Edward three for 23, Murali three for 19).

Tennis tournament

The fourth Twin Cities mini junior tennis tournament (for u-10 boys and girls) will be organised from June 5 at SAAP Tennis Complex. Entries will be accepted at the venue in the mornings and evenings.

Mohd. Aziz XI posts win

Mohd. Aziz XI defeated Yousuf Khan XI 3-2 in the Talent Hunt football tournament for under-15 boys here on Friday. Venkatesh, Anshuman, and Kartik scored for the winner while Pranav scored both the goals for the loser.

Gymnastics selections

Selection trials to pick the Indian gymnastics team for the fourth Children of Asia International Sports and Games meet to be held in Yakutsk (Russia) from July 3 to 13 will be held at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium here on May 31 and June 1. The trials is open to under-15 boys and girls.
