BANGALORE: South Zone registered its second successive victory in the SAI inter-regional girls’ hockey tournament with a 2-1 win over North Zone at the SAI South Centre ground here on Friday. A penalty corner drive from Jyothsna in the 26th minute put South ahead. Anjai struck North’s equaliser four minutes later but the team had no response to R. Soumya’s match-winner in the 49th minute. Earlier, East came from behind to inflict a 3-1 defeat on North East Zone. M. Chanu Rosy sounded the boards off the very first penalty corner that the North East girls earned in the 24th minute. However, three goals — in the 56th by Dulari Khandolna, 59th by Deepa Karketta (penalty corner) and 64th by Aarthi Pradhan — helped East seal a comfortable win. — Special Correspondent
