Pass percentage comes down in Tiruvarur district

TIRUVARUR: R. Lakshmipriya of Veludayar Higher Secondary School here came first in the district scoring 491 marks out of 500 in the tenth (SSLC) examinations.

N. Hindupriya of GRM Girls Higher Secondary School at Tiruvarur came second scoring 490 marks.

Third rank in the district was shared by three students — A. Athirai of GRM Girls Higher Secondary School, S. Swapna of Veludayar Higher Secondary School, and V. Vinodhini of St. Teresa’s Higher Secondary School, Thiruthuraipoondi. All the three secured 489 marks out of 500.

However, the district has come down with respect to pass percentage. Against 83 per cent last year, the pass percentage this year was 81 per cent only.

Out of 15,005 students who wrote the examinations, 12,099 passed out.

In the matriculation stream, out of 619 students 567 passed out and the percentage was 92 per cent.
