Empowering women by teaching them skills
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Life has not been good to 20-something Rashmi over the last couple of years. Burdened by family problems, she has had to seek refuge at a short-stay home run by a non-governmental organisation. Just as the future looked bleak, succour came in the form of a chance to learn a skill which, she hopes, will help her earn without depending on others.
She is one of the seven women selected for a month-long Vocation Training Programme in Housekeeping being conducted by the Karnataka Social Welfare Board in collaboration with the Bangalore-based Hotel Windsor Manor.
