Panel summons MLA in rape case

Bhubaneswar: A day after his suspension from Congress, Orissa MLA Subal Sahu was today issued summons by the State Commission for Women (SCW) to appear before it in connection with the rape case registered against him. Official sources said the SCW, which took up the matter on its own, initiated its probe into the complaint lodged against the Bijepur MLA by a 35-year-old woman of Barapali in Bargarh district and recorded her statement during the day. I have issued summons to the MLA through the Bargarh police superintendent to appear before the SCW, its Chairperson Namita Panda told PTI adding she had herself visited the MLA colony, the place of the alleged rape that took place one and half years ago. -PTI
