KOMARAPALAYAM: “I wanted to score maximum in each of the five subjects, and the 489 out of 500 has not come as a surprise,” says State matriculation topper V. Abhirami of S.S.M. Lakshmiammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

The younger daughter of doctors N. Vasudevan and V. Guhapriya Vasudevan has scored 98 in Tamil, 94 in English, centum in Mathematics, 99 in Science and 98 in Social Science (History and Geography).

This year the matriculation marks, which are usually for 1100, have been aggregated for 500.

Scoring maximum has been her aim from day one of Class Ten, says the girl. “I did not let anything come between my aim and me. There were a few distractions like TV but I overcame those.”

Abhirami says she studied mostly in mornings between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m., and concentrated on Mathematics because she loves the subject. She has a centum in the subject.

She attributes her success to the School’s revision exam. “The exams helped me in the sense that teachers pointed out all the trivial mistakes that I committed, which I ensured were not repeated in the public examination.”

Her Mathematics teacher K. Banumathi says the girl has remarkable observation and a good grasping ability.

Abhirami’s next step is to pursue mathematics-biology group to take up architecture. “It has been a long-time aim of mine to pursue architecture, an idea that came from my uncle an architect.” The girl is good in drawing and has won prizes at the school-level. She is also in to poetry and essay writing.
