THANJAVUR: N. Aarthi of Oriental Higher Secondary School at Thanjavur has come first in the State in the subject of Sanskrit scoring 195 out of 200.
Aarthi, daughter of R. Narayanan, working in an insurance company, and V. Aruna, a teacher, is proficient in Hindi also.
“I completed eight exams in Hindi. I completed up to Praveen. This helped me in studying Sanskrit. My love for the subject made me score high marks and come first in the State,” Aarthi said. T. S. Kalyanasundaram, Headmaster of the school, said that the school had come State first eight times in the past in Sanskrit subject.
“Last year also our student came first and this year also Aarthi our student has come first. Sanskrit is one of the important subjects and the school has been teaching the subject for the past 40 years. It is really a proud moment for us,” he said. Aarthi said that she would continue her studies in the school for plus two and expressed her wish to become an engineer.
