Sivaganga maintains last year’s performance

SIVAGANGA: The district has more or less retained last year’s overall pass percentage in the SSLC examinations.
A total of 13,438 students out of 15,350 appeared in the examinations have passed in the district. Out of 7,971 girls, 7,170 tasted success. Similarly, 6,268 boys out of 7179 have emerged victorious. All students who appeared from 23 out of 156 schools in the district have passed. The overall pass percentage stood at 88.23 as against 89.01 last year. Girls’ pass percentage is 3 per cent more than boys. While pass percentage of boys’ is 87.3, girls’ is 90.
The district first rank went to A. Nandini of St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Devakottai. She was just short of 9 marks for 500.
D. Lakshmi of the same school has got 489, which is the second rank. N. Manikandan of S.M.S.V. Higher Secondary School has finished third by securing 488.
In the Matriculation examinations, S. Amala of Holy Spirit Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kalaiyarkoil, has got district first by securing 483. Second rank went to R. Preethi of Oxford Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sivaganga and third rank to B. Bhuvanesh Kumar of Alagappa Matriculation School, Karaikudi. They have secured 475 and 473 respectively.
