TAMBARAM: R. Pavithra, who wrote her class X public examinations from a stretcher owing to a surgery, has scored an aggregate of 328 marks (or 65.6 per cent).

“She has secured 83 in Tamil, 68 in English and 72 in Mathematics. Had she been normal, she would have scored more marks, but that does not bother any longer,” said N.Ranganathan, her father.

Pavithra, a student of Holy Prince Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Madipakkam, wrote her examinations from a stretcher after she underwent a surgery for appendicitis a couple of days before the examinations commenced.

Mr. Ranganathan, who initially insisted that priority be given to her treatment and care, relented after her daughter convinced him that she did not want to miss an year and that she was fit and determined enough to write the public examinations.

Too brave

“She was too brave and she has now delivered the goods,” Mr. Ranganathan said.

“We are not very particular about which group she wants to opt in Eleventh. We want her to join the Indian Administrative Service,” Mr. Ranganathan said, as Pavithra nodded in consent.
