TAMBARAM: C. Bharat Raj, who died in a lift accident in an apartment complex in East Tambaram on May 20, scored 408 marks in the Standard X examinations, the results of which were announced on Friday.
Vasanthi Pichandi, his mother, is still unable to come to terms with the loss of her son.
“I still feel that he has gone out to play a cricket match. Today is the eleventh day rituals. When I see his face on a photograph, my grief knows no bounds,” she told The Hindu on Friday evening.
His admission to the Computer Science group in Eleventh Group was guaranteed at Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School in East Tambaram, where he has been a student for the past few years. “We even paid the entire year’s fee for the Standard XI. The school insists that we take back the fee. But in the memory of Bharat Raj, we want to use the amount as fee for a deserving, meritorious student,” Ms. Pichandi said.
“I still cannot believe that my son was killed in a simple act of negligence. The trauma that we have gone through, no one should experience it. And I pray for that,” she said.
Vasantha Mahadevan, principal of the school, said the boy had scored good marks in all subjects. “Our school has recorded a pass percentage of 100. But we are not in a mood to celebrate,” Ms. Mahadevan said.
