THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A police team from Kochi on Friday questioned Serafin Edwin who has accused self-styled ‘godman’ Santhosh Madhavan of cheating her of a large amount of money, at her residence at Plamoodu in the city. Officials said Serafin Edwin produced bank documents in a bid to substantiate her accusations against Santhosh Madhavan. The police will verify the veracity of the documents. She told investigators that she had handed over 4 lakh dirhams in four instalments to Santhosh Madhavan. She reportedly said the suspect had gained her confidence by borrowing 3 lakh dirhams in 2003 and returning it promptly. Circle Inspector, Kochi North Station, Suneesh Babu, questioned her. Serafin will present her case before the City Police Commissioner, Kochi, Manoj Abraham. Staff Reporter writes from Kochi: The police team is learnt to have secured nothing much to strengthen the case. Ms. Edwin could produce only records of bank transactions between mid-2002 and January 2003 and the police did not have any solid evidence to link the withdrawals made by Ms. Edwin to the money which was alleged handed over to Santhosh Madhavan.
