Tirunelveli students get State ranks

TIRUNELVELI: Even though the overall pass percentage of Tirunelveli district has suffered a marginal dip of 1.26 per cent (from last year’s 89.02 per cent to 87.76 per cent) in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations, it was obliterated completely by the top three State ranks bagged by students from this town.

Overall performance

Number of students appeared for the examination - 35,301 (boys 17,128 and girls 18,173); number of students passed - 30,982 (boys 14,418 and girls 16,564); overall pass percentage - 87.76 per cent.

Tirunelveli educational district:

Number of students -12,225 (boys 6,199 and girls 6,026); passed 10,622 (boys 5,084 and girls 5,538); pass percentage – 86.88.

Cheranmahadevi educational district:

Number of students - 11,685 (boys 5,423 and girls 6,262); passed 10,446 (boys 4,700 and girls 5,746); pass percentage - 89.04.

Tenkasi educational district:

Number of students - 11,391 (boys 5,506 and girls 5,885); passed 9,914 (boys 4,634 and girls 5,280); pass percentage - 87.03.

Interestingly, all the top three spots have gone in favour of students of Bharat Montessori Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ilanji.
