Joint Director removed from service

CHENNAI: The State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has removed from service a Joint Director/Principal, Regional Institute of Rural Development, Bhavanisagar, Erode District, for proven charges of demanding and accepting bribes for placing enhanced orders for colour TV sets during 1994-96.
A Government Order giving effect to remove the service of P. Jeyabalakrishnan, formerly Personal Assistant (Panchayat Development) to the District Collector, Coimbatore, and till now the Joint Director/Principal RIRD, Bhavanisagar, Erode District, was issued on May 29.
Charges proved
In the enquiry held as part of the disciplinary proceedings, all the charges were held proved and the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) also gave its approval for going ahead with the punishment of removing him from service after going through the records and the inquiry report connected to this case. Subsequently, the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department passed orders for removal of Mr. Jeyabalakrishnan from service.
