Arrangements for rythu sadassus reviewed

Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: Some 20,000 farmers will have a useful interaction with officials of the Agriculture Department and other agencies, including the Transco, during the Rythu Sadassus in the district.

The first of the sadassus will be organised at Palvancha on June 5. Similar sadassus will be held at Khammam, Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam on June 7, 8 and 9 respectively.

Commissioner for Cooperation J.C. Sharma, deputed to Khammam as special officer for making the sadassus a success, interacted with the officials of the departments concerned on the arrangements.

He wanted the officials to make the sadassus a forum for effective interaction. He said that the sadassus would be successful if the organisers were equipped well to answer the queries of farmers.

He said that the arrangements for the sadassu should not be different from the arrangements for a VIP visit. The farmers being mobilised from various villages should be given sufficient time to go around the stalls and watch the demonstrations organised by the departments concerned on the farm-related activities. The farmers would not be able to pay much attention to the deliberations if they were confined to the enclosures for long hours.

He wanted the sadassus should be organised in the interactive mode. The peasants must be ale to find some improvement from the way the sadassu was organised last year.

They should be given due exposure on seed treatment, use of pesticides and fertilizers and crop patterns.

District Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar said that the farmers must leave the villages at least two hours before the commencement of the technical session.
