BHUBANESWAR: A Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Modernisation of Prison Administration headed by Naveen Jindal visited the Special Jail in Bhubaneswar and the Nimapara in Puri district on Saturday for a spot verification of the jail modernization works. Later the team also held a meeting with top officials of the State Government and discussed the various measure being taken to mordernise the jails in the State. Talking to presspersons after the meeting, Mr. Jindal expressed satisfaction over the utilisation of funds meant for prison modernisation in the State. He also assured that the Sub-Committee will take up the State government’s demand for allocation of funds for installation of jammers in two major jails at Bhubaneswar and Chaudwar. The Government has decided to install jammers in various jails in a phased manner in the wake of seizure of mobile phones from different prisons. Mobile phone and other prohibited materials were recently seized from jails.
