Ninth PRC in the offing

Single member panel to be headed by Rosaiah

Last PRC appointed in Feb. 04 instead of July 03

HYDERABAD: The government will appoint the Ninth Pay Revision Commission, implement the Anomalies Committee report, pay salaries of the Panchayati Raj Department employees through the treasury.

This assurance was given by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to a delegation of the AP Joint Action Committee of employees, teachers and workers here on Saturday, after it submitted a representation seeking PRC, which, the members said, was due in July this year.

Dr. Reddy also told JAC leaders that a single member committee, comprising Finance Minister K. Rosaiah would be constituted to look into the other demands put forth by the JAC, V. Gopal Reddy, chairman of the committee, said in a statement later.

The representation, submitted to the Chief Minister by Mr. Gopal Reddy and nine other leaders, said the government had to appoint a PRC every five years to go into the anomalies pointed out by various unions/associations.

The leaders recalled that the PRC was appointed during February 2004, instead of July 2003, after a gap of six months. The next PRC would have to be invariably appointed by July this year. They said government employees were foregoing monetary benefits for one-two years on account of the ‘abnormal’ delay.
