PUDUCHERRY: Leader of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) in Parliament M. Ramadass on Saturday said the Centre should probe the charge made by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa that Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had failed to curb “unchecked flow” of foreign funds into the country in the name of globalisation. Replying to queries at a press conference Mr. Ramadass said, “It is a serious allegation which has to be enquired into.” The AIADMK leader had not given any evidence. But, the government should ascertain if there was any basis for the allegation. If it was found true, it should be dealt with firmly without giving room for laxity. Asked about Ms. Jayalalithaa’s remark that foreign investors had a convenient way of making investments through participatory notes without revealing their identity, Mr. Ramadass said even if that was so, it could not be said that such investments were permitted by the Finance Minister or they were made with his knowledge.
