Maharashtra CPI(M) plans hunger strike
Special Correspondent
MUMBAI: Over 25 activists of the Maharashtra CPI(M), led by the party’s state secretary Ashok Dhawale, will go on an indefinite hunger strike in Mumbai from June 2 to demand supply of 13 essential commodities at reduced prices through ration shops.
Their other demands include supply of full foodgrains quota of 35 kg a month to all “antyoday”, BPL and APL ration card holders, checking of black-marketing in kerosene and inclusion of consumer representatives on vigilance committees. The party said in a statement that the CPI(M) activists will stage the hunger strike at district and tehsil headquarters all over the State.
This will be the second phase of the ongoing agitation.
