Bangalore: The Education Department has instructed its officials to visit schools and make sure that the institutions follow the new guidelines on school timings. Though all private schools within BBMP limits are to start at 8.30 a.m. and all government schools at 9 a.m. from the start of the academic year to easy traffic congestion, many are yet to switch over to the new schedule. “Changing over to the new schedule is mandatory and we will make sure it is done,” said Commissioner for Public Instruction, G. Kumar Naik. Under a programme, called “Minchina Sanchara”, scheduled between June 2 and 7, the officials will also monitor implementation of all other programmes, including midday meals and distribution of school books and uniforms. They have been instructed to check if teachers reach school on time and whether they have prepared the academic schedule for the year. Deputy Directors of Public Instruction will submit consolidated reports on the functioning of schools in their zones by June 13.
