Bomb hoax at Delhi Metro station
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi police and Delhi Metro railway officials were thrown into a tizzy on Saturday when they received a phone call saying that a bomb would explode in Chawri Bazar station.
According to the police, the call was received around 1 p.m. Immediately the Bomb Disposal Squad, the Dog Squad and the local police rushed to the spot.
The Metro officials also blocked the entry of passengers at the Chawri Bazar station. Following a thorough search which lasted about an hour, the call was declared a hoax. Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said the train services were stopped for about 15 minutes to check the tracks. As a result, the movement of trains remained slow for some time and passengers had to bear with longer than usual queues.
