Plea to students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has urged the entire student community to join the drive for the eradication of waste and mosquitoes. In a joint press note issued here on Saturday, Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty, Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy and Education Minister M.A. Baby pointed out that the monsoon was setting in coinciding with the commencement of another academic year. The danger of mosquito proliferation in stagnant water in low lying areas, open vessels and blocked drains was high. It had to be prevented as mosquitoes were responsible for spreading fevers like chikungunya.
