Inspection conducted

KOCHI: The Labour Department conducted a surprise inspection at two major business establishments on MG Road on Saturday and served notices for violation of the provisions of labour laws. A 12-member team led by M.K. Balachandran, Additional Labour Commissioner, Jose. V. Jacob, Regional Joint Labour Commissioner and K.M. Shareef, District Labour Officer, conducted the inspection. Irregularities were detected in the maintenance of documents relating to workers and hence notices were served, a labour official said. The objective was to check whether the shops complied with the provisions of various labour laws, Mr. Balachandran said.
