Jubilant lot: AIDWA activists presenting a dance on the eve of their State meet in Kurnool on Saturday. KURNOOL: The 11th State meet of All-India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), which will be held between June 2 and 4, here, will focus on the problems of single women and domestic servants. Giving the details of the meet and its agenda, vice-president of the organisation P. Nirmala said single women were leading a miserable life in the absence of support from society and government. The pensions were being given only for widows while divorcees and unmarried women faced similar financial problems. AIDWA proposed to take up the cause of domestic servants. In the absence of a union, domestic servants were unable to demand minimum wages. They also faced problems from the employers like charges of theft for which they happened to be the first suspects. Ms. Nirmala said Muslim women also faced peculiar problems due to curbs on their employment. Beedi rolling was the only income generating activity among them.
