Naxal activity waning: Jana

Special budget of Rs. 10-cr. to police stations approved Rs. 4,000 each to be allotted to rural police stations
HYDERABAD: Home Minister K. Jana Reddy has said naxalite activity is on the wane in the State and this could be gauged by the marked slump in extremist violence.
Speaking to reporters after Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy reviewed various law and order issues here on Saturday, the Minister said this was a result of the various steps taken by the government. The measures initiated by the government to tackle naxalism would continue and there would no laxity on this front.
The Minister said the Chief Minister had approved a special annual budget of Rs. 10 crore to police stations in the State towards stationery and other expenses. Out of this, Rs. 4,000 would be allotted to each police station in the rural areas yearly, Rs. 6,000 each to those in district headquarters and Rs. 10,000 each to the police stations in police commissionerates.
