Blood camp marks church centenary

FOR PUBLIC CAUSE: A person donating blood at a camp in Puducherry on Sunday.

PUDUCHERRY: As part of its centenary celebrations, the Sacred Heart Church on Sunday organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).

After proper screening, the Church authorities collected blood from around 100 persons and handed it over to the JIPMER blood bank.

The authorities said it was for the fifth consecutive year that the blood camp was organised and so far around 250 bottles of blood was donated to various blood banks in Puducherry.

They said the Church had a list of blood donors available in Puducherry and those who are in need can contact them at 2228916 or 2225559.

The blood camp was inaugurated by Bishop of Vellore Soundararaj in the presence of Priest of Sacred Heat Church A. Thomas.
