Doing their bit: Children taking part in a rally to create awareness on blood donation in Belgaum on Sunday. Belgaum: It was tiring and demanding. Yet, at the end of it, the children who took part in the 30-km rally on roller skates had the satisfaction of knowing they had done their bit for a social cause. For awareness The rally was held on Sunday as part of “Blood donation-Save life”. It was organised by Belgaum Roller Skating Academy to create awareness on blood donation. The event was sponsored by Lions Clubs of Shahpur and Khanapur, BRSA, Unique Sporting Academy and Sakhare Bros., Belgaum. The rally started at Shiv Smarak Chowk in Khanapur and culminated at Goaves in Belgaum city. About 50 children aged between four and 16 participated in the rally. The presidents of Lions Clubs in Shahpur and Khanapur, Bhagwan Walvekar and Ajit Patel, respectively, the president of BRSA, Umesh G. Kalghatagi, and coach Suryakant Hindalgekar monitored the rally.
