Reintroduce MBiPC

Compared to the previous years, the EAMCET results in both engineering and medicine streams are quite encouraging this year.

Of the two streams, the students have shown excellent performance in medicine.

In this context, I wish to refer to certain science combinations being taught in junior colleges. BiPC and MPC combinations are being taught separately in almost all the colleges.

A few years back, on the advice of certain academicians, the Board of Intermediate Education introduced MBiPC in selected junior colleges on an experimental basis but dropped it later.

In view of the improvement in the EAMCET results, I request the officials concerned to consider reintroducing the MBiPC group in Intermediate, so that students who pursued this course would be able to appear for both medicine and engineering streams of EAMCET.

Decision on laddu prasadam unjust

The reported decision of the Endowments Department to reduce the weight of laddu prasadam sold in temples is quite unjust and uncalled for. It is hitting the very roots of devotion to gods and temples. The department has decided to reduce the weight of laddu prasadam from 100 grams to 80 grams and sell it for the same old price of Rs. 5 each. This change will be introduced in 21 select temples across the State as per the plan. May be, the temples concerned are incurring losses in preparation of laddu prasadam. But, this cannot be an explanation for reducing the weight.

Broadcast qualitative programmes

The opening of devotional channels is a laudable step in the right direction. It certainly helps build spiritual awareness among people. At least, these channels help the elders divert their attention from daily serials, which are doing more harm than good. In the course of time, the younger generation is bound to fall in linebecause of the interest generated by spiritual scriptures, classical music and dances. I suggest the devotional channels to broadcast qualitative programmes for limited period, instead of filling the 24 hours with non-qualitative programmes.

Global warming

In the wake of alerts from international organisations about the threat of global warming, we have to do our best to protect the environment by making certain changes in our lifestyle. First of all, we can reduce the use of gadgets like air-conditioners and refrigerators, which consume high electricity and release polluted gases into air. Instead, we have to focus on natural alternatives that can help keep ourselves cool and comfortable.

Use of earthen pots for cool drinking water and mats made of grass to protect from heat are the readily available alternatives.
