Railway station lacks amenities

TIRUPUR: The Tirupur railway station, which handles thousands of passengers every day and one of the top revenue earning stations in the Salem division, lags behind in amenities to passengers.

The works for heightening and widening of platforms are almost over at the station. But a vast portion of the platforms, which always overflow with hundreds of passengers, has gone without shelter The railway authorities blame the contractor for the delay.

Most of the public taps on the platforms go without water for months.
