Safai Karamchari’s Union thanks Sheila Dikshit

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Office-bearers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Safai Karamchari’s Union called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday to thank her for supporting their cause of seeking appointment in un-authorised colonies. Leading the delegation, Member of Legislative Assembly Charan Singh Kandera said that justice had been served to the safai karamcharis only after intervention of the Chief Minister.

“It is because of Ms. Dikshit’s proactive approach that their demands are being heeded. The MCD now has to exhaust the list of ‘avjidars’ in service and only then can it seek to recruit fresh hands,” he added.

Legislator Veer Singh Dhingan said: “The Delhi Government is also willing to release more funds to the MCD for ensuring sanitary condition in unauthorised colonies. It is also laudable that the Chief Minister has come to the rescue of the safai karamcharis .”
