GULBARGA/SIRSI: Three persons, including two women, were killed when lightning struck them. Two persons including a woman were killed on the spot and another injured when lightening struck on them in two different places in Jewargi taluk of Gulbarga district on Sunday. Jayappa Sharanappa (18), a shepherd was killed on the spot when the lightening struck him in an agriculture field near Malla B village in the Jewargi Taluk. In another incident Renuka Mallappa (18) was killed on the spot and her sister, Basamma Mallappa, suffered serious burn injuries when lightening struck them at Varchanalli in Jewargi taluk. Savita Ganapati Naik (23) died when a lightning struck her in the early hours of Saturday. She belonged to Padushirali in Bhatkal taluk. Her sister Mangala has been injured. . — Special Correspondent
