TDP dared to hold meet at percolation pits which it supports

Trial run in Guntur for Chief Minister’s visit

Farmers invited to meet YSR’s meet

MADIPADU: The Andhra Pradesh Government led by the Congress has decided to organise Rythu Sadassu at the irrigation or lift irrigation project sites at as many places as possible, Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana has said and challenged the TDP to organise at least one party State meet at one `Inkudu gunta’ (percolation pit), which they projected as an alternative to projects.

Farmers from all over Guntur district were invited to have a look at the progress of the project and attend the Rythu Sadassu to be addressed by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at the project site, said the Minister to those from the delta region, who would benefit from this project.

The Minister told reporters at the project site that the Telugu Desam Party, which had shunned all the irrigation projects, would not dare face the people at the percolation pits, which according to them were the ultimate solution for the water woes of farmers. "They had brought Rs.57,000 crores from World Bank only to sink in such useless projects," the Minister opined.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha, Municipal Commissioner Siddhartha Jain and Revenue Department officials made a mock run of Chief Minister’s programmes in Guntur city and reviewed the arrangements at various sites. A facelift was being given to all the roads and places which the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit on June 5.

According to the revised schedule of the Chief Minister, he will stay overnight in Guntur and leave for Hyderabad from here on June 6 after having breakfast in the house of Mr. Kanna Lakshmi Narayana. As per the revised schedule the Chief Minister would arrive at Gangayapalem Thanda at 10 a.m. in Veldurthy mandal on June 5 and lay the foundation for the Varikapudisela Lift Irrigation Scheme and from there arrive at Madipadu close to Pulichintala project site at 11.30 a.m. to address a Rythu Chaitanya Sadassu.

After the sadassu, he will hold a review meeting with the project officials on the progress of work at 1 p.m. The Chief Minister was likely to have lunch at Pulichintala and reach Adavitakellapadu on Guntur city outskirts to inaugurate the Rajiv Gruhakalpa housing scheme and arrive at BR Stadium at 3 p.m. to attend the Coastal Districts Live Stock Regional Workshop.

He will attend the Youth Congress meeting at Pichukulagunta at 3.40 p.m. and party meeting later. About 20 minutes have been allocated for interaction with Municipal Commissoner, Mayor and corporators from 7 p.m.

On Friday he will inaugurate the Closed Circuit camera surveillance network of the police at 7.30 a.m. and proceed to Hyderabad by helicopter at 8.35 a.m.
