NAGAPATTINAM: The State Government is according priority for education and has allocated nearly Rs.8,500 crore for providing infrastructure and benefits to students up to higher education, said M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, on Wednesday. Addressing the 12th College Day celebrations of A.V.C. College of Engineering at Mayiladuturai, the Minister advised the students to study hard and update their knowledge and communication skill. The students should face the challenges in the existing competitive employment scenario, he said. Welfare activitiesMr. Panneerselvam wanted the students to involve themselves in social welfare activities and render service to the society. He distributed prizes to the students who brought laurels to the institution through various competitions. P.N. Rethinekumar, Chairman of A.V.C. educational institutions, who welcomed the gathering, traced the growth of the college from its inception and also the courses offered in the college. AchievementsProf. Arun V. Parwate, Principal of A.V.C. College of Engineering, who presented the annual report of the college, explained the achievements of the students who brought fame to the institution by getting ranks in the university examinations and also winning several awards and prizes in many competitions. K. Anbazhagan, MLA of Kuthalam, M. Panneerselvam, MLA of Sirkazhi, J. Lingarajan, Chairman of Mayiladuturai Municipality, and others spoke. Prof. M. Varadharajan, Principal of A.V.C. College (Autonomous), and Prof. S. Balasubramanian, Principal of A.V.C.Polytechnic College, honoured the chief guest and other dignitaries.
