Two students commit suicide

One of them had failed in SSLC examination and the other in Standard IX
TAMBARAM: Two students, who failed in their school examinations, committed suicide on Friday.
Personnel at the Government Railway Police in Tambaram said that A. Maharajan (15), a resident of Kamakshi Nagar in Old Pallavaram, was a student of a government higher secondary school.
He had failed in the Standard X public examinations, the results of which were announced on Friday.
Soon after he learnt about the results, he threw himself in front of an electric train that was on its way to Chennai Beach from Tambaram.
The incident took place between Pallavaram and Tirusulam stations at 11 a.m., the police said.
15-year-old girl
A 15-year-old girl committed suicide at her house on Anjaneyar Koil Street, Pallavaram.
A Standard IX student at a government-aided school in Pallavaram, S. Durga was not promoted to Standard X and had resorted to the extreme step, the Pallavaram police said.
Her father Srinivasan had died some years ago and Durga was living with her mother, a domestic help.
