MANGALORE: Karnataka Bank Limited recently inked a pact with Indiaideas.com (Billdesk) for payment gateway services at Mumbai. According to a press release, payment gateway is an e-commerce service through a service provider (Billdesk) who would provide a platform for payments of e-businesses, online reservations, bill payments, and other such services. Payment gateways encrypt sensitive information, such as Internet account details to ensure that information passes securely between the customer and the merchant. The bank’s chief general manager P. Jayarama Bhat and Director of Indiaideas M.N. Srinivasu signed the agreement in the presence of Bank’s general manager P. Jairama Hande and Deputy General Manager V.N. Manohar. The tie-up will enable the bank’s MoneyClick customers to book air tickets, pay insurance premium of MetLife Insurance Company, buy mutual fund products (Franklin Templeton Asset Management), pay telephone and electricity bills or donate to charity to religious institutions — all at the click of a button, round the clock, the press release said. The bank proposes to offer lot more technology driven products during the current financial year.
