Inside Lucknow: Lok Janshakti Party president and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan being welcomed at a party function in Lucknow on Sunday. SHIVPURI: Ramvilas Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has signalled its intention to fight the Assembly elections in four States slated this year along with the Congress. Paswan said his party would like to enter into an electoral alliance with the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh where Assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year. “But it depends on them (Congress) what they want,” Mr. Paswan told PTI, adding that the LJP has no ideological differences with Congress. Trying to expand his party’s base, Paswan has undertaken a series of political meetings in these States. The party has already announced that it will contest elections in all the four states which are going to polls this year. Asked whether the UPA constituents were apprehensive of Left parties withdrawing support to the government on the Indo-US nuclear deal, he replied in the negative. “There is no insecurity among the allies. There is no such feeling and I am confident that the government will complete its term at the Centre,” Paswan, also the Union Steel and Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister, said. Paswan also said it would be “premature” to think that the Left parties may withdraw support before the term-end as a committee has been formed to sort out differences on the matter. “Why should there be any speculations when the talks (with Left parties) are still on,” he said. - PTI
