BANGALORE: Central Zone kept itself in contention with a 3-2 win over North in the SAI inter-regional girls’ hockey tournament at the SAI South Centre here on Sunday. Meanwhile South maintained its winning streak. Having completed its unfinished match against West Zone, the South girls had to dig deep to eke out a solitary goal win over East. Kulsumbi netted the match winner in the 15th minute of the game through a penalty corner. Leading 4-0 overnight in the interrupted match against West, the South girls completed the remaining 19 minutes of play for a 6-1 verdict. M.R. Lekha added two more to her tally of three (overnight) while G. Champa reduced the margin for West in the 56th. Central scored two emphatic victories. Central first downed East 3-0 with Anusha (30th min. penalty corner), Anitha Yadav (44th, second penalty corner) and Amitha (57th) being the goal getters. Against North in the evening it went with penalty corner conversions from Anusha (18th) and Preeti Singh (47th). Anupriya (15th) and Neelam (42nd) equalised for North before Kavitha netted the all important goal for Central in the 67th minute.
