CHENNAI: A 40-year-old man, involved in seven cases, including those related to murder, kidnapping and assault, was murdered by unidentified persons in Sathya Nagar, near Avadi Road, Anna Nagar, on Saturday night. The police, who identified the deceased as Ramesh alias ‘dadi,’ said that he had gone with three of his friends to a wine shop in the locality. When he came out of the shop, he was attacked by unidentified persons. He died on the spot. Ramesh, the police said, was involved in the kidnap of a woman earlier this year. He had tried to confine her to a room and sexually assault her along with a few friends. The woman had escaped and lodged a complaint with the police. The deceased, who had been in jail for a year under Goondas Act, had recently moved with his family from Anna Nagar to Thiruvanmiyur. Watchman found deadA watchman working in a company in Thoraipakkam was found dead in a neighbouring house on Sunday. According to the police, Murugesan (64), belonging to Villupuram, was employed as a watchman in a firm. Duraikannu, owner of a house nearby and who runs a tea shop, had requested him to keep a watch on his house as his family would be away for sometime. Following this, Murugesan agreed to sleep in the house on Saturday night. Govindasamy, Duraikannu’s son, who returned on Sunday morning, found Murugesan dead. The police said that the victim’s hands were tied.
